Biography
Dr Yang Dong is an Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, he holds several key positions, including Director of the International Shipping and Transport Logistics Master Program, Director of the PolyU Maritime Data and Sustainable Development Centre, and Deputy Director of the Shipping Research Centre. Beyond his university roles, Dr Yang is actively involved in the broader maritime and logistics research community. He serves as a Council Member of the International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) and as a Member of the Port Operation Committee to the Director of Marine in Hong Kong.
Academically, Dr Yang is a prolific researcher, having published over 80 papers in top-tier international transportation journals. He serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics and Maritime Policy & Management and sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Transport Geography. Dr Yang has also been a Guest Editor for prestigious journals such as Transportation Research Part E and Transport Policy. Notably, Dr Yang has secured substantial research funding from various prestigious sources, including the United Nations, APEC, and China National Natural Science Foundation, Hong Kong Research Grants Council, Hong Kong Policy Research Fund (PPR), Hong Kong Marine Department, etc.
