On 11 September 2020, Sr Dr. Charles Wong of the Department of Land Surveying and GeoInformatics (LSGI) has been invited by the Tree Management Office, Development Bureau, HKSAR to give a presentation on topic “Application of Remote Sensing Technologies in Tree Monitoring” in “Seminar on Use of Technology in Tree Management”
Over 130 government officials who involve in tree management works participated in the webinar. Dr. Wong shared the use of remote sensing for tree health detection, tree data extraction with LiDAR technology, hyperspectral imaging for vegetation monitoring, smart sensing for tree tilt monitoring, detection of structural tree defect using thermal infrared imaging, as well as urban green management through remote sensing and geographic information systems with all participants.
