Prof. JT Fan takes forward collaboration with Ganzhou

Prof. Jin-tu Fan, Associate Director of Risports and Chair Professor of Fiber Science and Apparel Engineering, led a delegation to visit Ganzhou on 16 Aug 2023 to discuss the collaboration among industry, academic and research sectors with industry leaders and officials of the municipal government. PolyU Foundation Luncheon Series (Sports Science and Technology)

Ir Prof. Ming Zhang, Director of RISports, was invited to speak at the PolyU Foundation Luncheon Series introducing the latest research development related to sports last month. The welcoming speech was delivered by Dr Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Our Sports Advisors, former gold medalists, Ms Jin Ma (Badminton) and Ms Xin Wang (Diving) also joined the event together with other industrial partners and friends.

RISports was honoured to welcome the former Chinese women's and mixed doubles badminton player with 6 championships, Ma Jin! She toured one of our research platforms, the Human Locomotion Laboratory, where our Director Prof. Zhang Ming introduced the major goals and key research projects.

Establishment of Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology

To facilitate high-impact research through cross-disciplinary collaborations in the domain of sports, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) establishes the Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology (RISports) as a constituent research unit of the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR) today (1 June 2022). Prof. Zhang Ming, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is the Director of RISports. The RISports will be an advanced research platform, aiming to integrate PolyU experts and to collaborate with world leaders to provide scientific and novel engineering solutions for sports. The major goals of RISports are: to conduct cutting-edge research in the thematic areas of sports science and technology; to transfer scientific and engineering knowledge and applications to sports industry and sports institutes through collaboration with companies and organisations; and to nurture future leaders in sports science and technology.
