Yang Zihuan, associate researcher and doctoral supervisor, is currently Deputy director of Institute of Gastroenterology, Sun Yat-sen University (Guangdong Key Laboratory of Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Disease Research), Deputy director of Clinical Laboratory, Deputy director of High Quality Development Office, and Director of Teaching and Research Section of Molecular Medicine in the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. From 2008 to 2011, he was engaged in postdoctoral research at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, USA. Since 2012, he has been engaged in basic and clinical translational research of gastrointestinal diseases at the Institute of Gastroenterology, Sun Yat-sen University. He has long been engaged in basic and translational research on gastrointestinal diseases. In recent years, he has focused on the recurrence, metastasis and new therapeutic targets of colorectal cancer. He has published several high-level papers and presided over scientific research projects at all levels, including the Youth Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the General Project of the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and the Science and Technology Plan Project of Guangzhou. He has served as a reviewer of academic journals such as Cancer Letters and BMC Cancer, and as a member of the Special Committee of Cancer Gastroenterology of Chinese anti-Cancer Association. As the main completion person, he won the Second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2016, the second prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award in 2019, and the first prize of Science and Technology Award of Ministry of Education in 2020.
