Dr. Arnold Wong is a clinician-scientist. He attained his BSc in Biology from The University of Hong Kong, and BSc in Physiotherapy (first class honours) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. After practicing as a physiotherapist in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for several years, he was determined to pursue his career in academia. Dr. Wong obtained his MPhil in Orthopaedics and Traumatology from The University of Hong Kong, and completed his PhD training from the University of Alberta, Canada. 

Dr. Wong’s research interests focus on investigating the mechanisms that lead to or maintain spinal disorders, osteoarthritis, and musculoskeletal pain in different populations, and the related impacts of pain on physical and psychological wellbeing (including brain changes or balance). He adopts multiple strategies (e.g. advanced imaging, biomechanical testing, epidemiological or qualitative research, etc.) to disentangle the associations between pain and various physical and psychosocial factors. His findings can improve both researchers and clinicians in understanding and treating musculoskeletal pain. 

Dr. Wong has received numerous academic accolades from various agencies in Hong Kong, Canada, Switzerland, and the USA (e.g., Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons the 15^th Rehabilitation Symposium Best Paper Award 2021, SOSORT best paper award 2019, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and International Association for the Study of Pain). His research has also resulted in multiple publications in peer-reviewed, international journals (e.g., The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Pain, Journal of Pain, Scientific Reports, Spine, etc.).
