Biography
Dr Tsang obtained her BSc in Physiotherapy, MSc in Healthcare, and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining the Department as an Assistant Professor, she received her postdoctoral training at The Chinese University of Hong Kong supervising a community hip fracture prevention programme for older adults. The programme included multidimensional assessments for the risks of falling and hip fractures for over 4,000 community-dwelling older adults. She was involved in designing and conducting this large-scale service and related research projects.
Dr Tsang’s clinical and research experiences fascinated her with the synergies of research and clinical practice in impacting an individual, his/her family, and the society. She is dedicated to promoting healthy ageing and functional independence in older adults. Her research has been focusing on fall prevention in older adults. Currently, she is studying the effects of fall-related psychological factors on the association between physical functions and falls. Results of her studies have been published in well-recognized peer-reviewed journals such as Physical Therapy, Journal of Physiotherapy, and Journal of the American Medical Directors Association.
Dr Tsang is accepting students who are interested in pursuing PhD research in the field of Healthy Ageing.
