Biography
Ms Anita Ngan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and obtained her master’s degree in stroke and clinical neurosciences from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Ms Ngan had been working in public hospitals for more than 15 years before joining PolyU. She was the leader of the Orthopaedics & Trauma Team and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team. She has extensive clinical experience in managing patients with acute orthopaedic and trauma-related problems. Besides, she has expertise in fall prevention, splintage design and fabrication as well as the provision of community reintegration service with assistive device prescription. She had participated actively in the multi-phased Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to help patients in lifestyle redesign and stress management. She had also provided primary health care service to patients with chronic diseases such as cumulative trauma disorder, injury on duty, chronic pain and cognitive impairment, in the form of various treatment modalities including educational talk, therapeutic group, health qigong, Bowen Therapy, return-to-work program, individual assessment and training session. She obtained her certified Bowen Therapy qualification in 2019.
Ms Ngan has been actively promoting occupational therapy to the public through TV broadcasting and newspaper interviews in the past years. She has given various poster presentations at the annual HA Convention on the effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation and early return-to-work program. She has been Visiting Lecturer at The Hong Kong Academy of Nursing and The Hong Kong College of Community and Public Health Nursing for years. She is keen to share her clinical experience with students and nurture them to be health professionals in the future.
