Doomsday is Hope
by KWONG Chi Wing, M. Wing
BA (Hons) in Advertising Design
“Doomsday is Hope” is an example of "doublethink," as defined by George Orwell in his classic novel, 1984. Doublethink involves accepting two contradictory beliefs or behaviors at the same time, knowing that they contradict each other, and yet convincing oneself to accept them both. While we cannot predict or control the timing of doomsday, we should cherish the time we have before it occurs. By doing so, we can maintain a sense of agency and control over our lives, which is critical for survival during difficult times. Blindly holding hope is essential for our resilience and ability to persevere in the face of adversity.
