To protect the grassroots families and ethnic minorities in the community against COVID-19, 1300 pieces of PU30TM reusable face mask were donated to three NGOs including the People Service Centre, the Hong Kong Christian Service and a Nepalis woman group via Lee Hysan Foundation.
Developed by a research team led by Prof. Kan Chi-wai and Dr Joanne Yip, PU30TM is an antiviral, washable and reusable mask. The mask has been in-vitro shown to inhibit tested strains of influenza virus (H1N1) and the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) upon contact with the surface of the face mask.
