Biography
Professor Rachel Dodd has been appointed as inaugural Adobe Professor of Digital Innovation at Aston University, a pioneering role that underscores the institution’s commitment to digital advancement. This role, the first of its kind globally, is part of a strategic partnership with Adobe, making Aston University the first Adobe Creative Campus in the Midlands.
In her new position, Professor Dodd will lead the integration of Adobe’s digital tools across the curriculum, supporting Aston’s 2030 strategy goals of enhancing student experience, employability, and growth. She will also oversee activities within the Adobe Creative Campus Aston Hubs and Hangouts. Collaboration with Design Factory Birmingham, further aims to boost innovation and design in the West Midlands.
Professor Dodd joins Aston University from Teesside University, the UK’s first Adobe Creative Campus, bringing extensive experience in learning and teaching, programme development, marketing, and recruitment. An Advance HE Fellow, she has a rich background in media, IT services, telecommunications, and education. Her notable achievements include leading RiverShack CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company, and receiving a mayoral civic award in 2023. Her contributions were featured in the “People Powered” exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in 2024.
