The ScholarGPS® rankings of academic institutions are based on the number and quality of scholars who significantly contribute to an institution’s scholarly reputation. The institutional ranking considers the number of active scholars—those who published at least once between 2017 and 2021—who are exceptionally productive and have produced high-impact work, as measured by citation counts and the h-index.
US-based ScholarGPS® maintains a fully indiced compilation of metadata corresponding to over 200 million archival publications (including journal papers, books, book chapters, conference papers, and patents) from around the world. It also tracks a database of over 30 million academic, industrial, and governmental scholars from 55,000 institutions and 15,000 academic institutions in more than 200 countries. ScholarGPS® categorises scholarly activities into 14 fields, such as Medicine, Engineering and Computer Science, Law, and Arts and Humanities; along with 177 disciplines, such as Surgery, Mechanical Engineering, and History.
