Dr Cai has been an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Sing Tao News Corporation Limited since 2021. He is also a director of various subsidiaries of the company. He previously held key roles in several listed companies in Hong Kong and has around 15 years of experience in media and finance. In his early career, Dr Cai was a financial reporter, later rising to become editor-in-chief at Phoenix TV. He has also been an active columnist, publishing commentaries about economic development and social issues.

Since graduating from PolyU’s DBA programme, Dr Cai has worked closely with academic staff at the School of Accounting and Finance (AF), sharing his ideas and exploring possible knowledge transfer collaborations for the benefit of both parties. As an Adjunct Professor at AF, he has generously shared his knowledge and vision with students, inspiring them to think innovatively to identify potential ESG applications. Leading Sing Tao News Corporation’s promotion of ESG, Dr Cai initiated the signing of an MoU for ESG collaboration with the Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance (CESEF) in early May this year. The aim of the collaboration is to advance sustainable development in Hong Kong.
