Entrance Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree, postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma in any area, or an equivalent professional qualification; and a minimum of 2 years' full-time work experience; and proficiency in English.

  • Exceptionally, applicants with post-secondary qualifications and at least 8 years of full-time work experience, and proficiency in English, will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

If you are not a native speaker of English, and your Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is awarded by institutions where the medium of instruction is not English, you are expected to fulfil the University’s minimum English language requirement for admission purposes. Fee & Scholarships

Fee for 2025/26 intake

HK$506,220 for both local and non-local students.

Tuition fees will not be charged for the 1-credit "Academic Integrity and Ethics in Business".
Students taking the elective subject "MBA International Experience" will pay the course fee as requested by the offering institution and bear themselves the costs of travel, accommodation, visa, insurance, etc. The MBA programme will not charge the credit fee for taking the "MBA International Experience" subject.

 

Scholarships

  • Merit-based Scholarships will be automatically considered for all applicants
  • Applicants will be evaluated based on a holistic set of criteria, including academic and professional qualifications, career background, interview performance, and potential contribution to the programme
  • Scholarship results will be released shortly after the issuance of admission offer

PolyU reserves the right to change or withdraw the scholarship at any time. In case of dispute/disagreement, PolyU's decision is final.

Application Process

(1) Prepare Supporting Documents

Prepare the following documents before proceeding to step 2.

  • Certificate and transcript of academic qualification(s)
  • Employment proof for full-time work experience
  • Official IELTS / TOEFL test report*
  • Optional: Curriculum vitae, referee report(s), official GMAT/GRE report     

(2) Submit Application Online

We have a quota for admissions. Early applications are strongly encouraged.

Follow the steps to submit the application online.

An incomplete application cannot be processed promptly and will reduce your chance of admission. Please complete all relevant fields on the application form and enclose all necessary documents.

(3) Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an admission interview where they demonstrate their motivation, maturity, and ability to communicate in English.

Interview schedule: Interview will be conducted on a rolling basis after application submission. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.

(4) Admission Decision

In general, the admission results will be released via email within 2 weeks after the interview.

(5) Post Admission Follow-up

  • Once offer is accepted, our Academic Registry will contact you on student visa application (if required), and programme registration.
  • Our MBA office will contact you on MBA orientation activities, subject registration matters, and other programme-related information on your MBA journey.

No. In fact, most of our students don't have a business undergraduate degree.

We require a minimum of 2 years' full-time work experience for admission to the programme.

GMAT is not compulsory for the MBA programme. We are interested in recruiting managers and professionals who have leadership potential in their areas of interest.

After receipt of a completed application and an interview, a decision is made normally within two weeks. Wait-list candidates will be considered for any place available.

Eligible local students may apply for the Extended Non-Means-Tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) offered by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR. Please refer to the website of the PolyU's Student Affairs Office (SAO) for details of the scheme.

  • We don't encourage exemption or credit transfer because we want students to complete the full programme together. However, students may apply for credit transfer if they have previously completed relevant postgraduate studies. The Maximum number of transferable credits to the MBA Programme is 6.
  • Subject to an administrative fee, application for a credit transfer will only be considered when student is enrolled on the programme. The validity period of credits earned is normally eight years from the year of attainment, i.e. the year in which the subject was completed. Please refer to the Student Handbook for more details about Credit Transfer.

The MBA programme operates on a credit-based system. Payment for the subjects registered by a student should be made according to the following schedule:

  • For Semester 1 and Semester 2: to pay an initial fee of 3 credits at the start of Semester 1 (around September) and Semester 2 (around January); and to pay the remaining tuition fee about 5 weeks after the commencement of the respective semesters.
  • For Summer Term: to pay the tuition fee after the add/drop period (around June).

Course members (students and professors) are able to communicate through a variety of technologies including Internal-based software. For example, we are currently using Blackboard as a means for communication. Course members may keep in touch with one another from any computer in the world as long as they have an Internet connection and a web browser.
