Memory & Metaphor: Spatial Writing of Literature. Lecture Series on Chinese Literary Genres & Techniques. Mr. Simon Suen and Mrs. Mary Suen Sino-Humanitas Institute, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, 20 March 2023.

Abstract
Following the development of fictional narrative, narrative perspective and narrative time were the first to receive attention, and in recent years there has been an increasing amount of discussion about space. In the literary, spatial writing is not only about describing and reproducing the physical space of reality, but also about placing personal/public memories of the space, or even transforming the space into a metaphor. This talk will use different literary works as examples to guide the audience beyond the physical space and explore the memory and metaphorical space and its meaning.
