Investigating the impact of personal beliefs on the learning of story continuation writing. International Symposium on Linguistics, Second Language and Continuous Story Writing Studies 2023. Center for Linguistics & Applied Linguistics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, 10-12 December 2023.
Abstract
The widespread use of story continuation writing in China's national college entrance examination has garnered considerable scholarly interest pertaining to students' proficiency in this particular writing task. However, existing research predominantly focuses on the textual analysis of students' written compositions, neglecting the impact of personal beliefs on students' learning behaviors and outcomes. To address this research gap, we undertook two empirical studies with the aim of establishing a connection between personal beliefs and students' learning outcomes in story continuation writing.
