For PolyU students, creating your own startup is not just a dream. Following the university’s ‘Do Well Do Good’ philosophy, PolyU students are equipped to challenge competitive entrepreneurial environment of Hong Kong by realizing their startup while contributing to the society. Behind the many hackathons and startup-grinds every month, is the massive infrastructure of social connections, funding, and collective expertise PolyU has built to support student startups. Partnering with major organizations such as Alibaba Entrepreneurial Fund and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, PolyU’s five funding schemes grants students nearly HK$10 million per year in cash to support student’s technological and social innovations.
PolyU Entrepreneurship Parade is one of the many entrepreneurship related activities of PolyU every year.
PolyU is well recognised for providing professional education that meets the needs of the society. This is because every course in PolyU is designed according to the desired graduate attributes through a Outcome-Based Education system, ensuring theories learnt in the classroom is connected to workplace applications. A practical curriculum, paired with a campus well equipped with the necessary facilities allows PolyU students to mature to their full potential. Furthermore, Work-Integrated Education is incorporated into the graduation requirement of every student, ensuring students have work experience before graduation. PolyU students are known to be popular among employers.
Studying in PolyU is a very international experience. On campus, you will spend your time mingling with students from other cultures and backgrounds in between the many international events of PolyU. GSAP, The Global Student Ambassador Programme is one of the initiatives that provides interested students a platform for intercultural exposure to enhance their sense of global citizenship. GSAP Ambassadors can develop their soft skills through various training and workshops. Inversely, GSAP Ambassadors also host intercultural workshops for PolyU students, where they can promote their own culture through various events such as cooking workshops or traditional art classes. On top of that, every PolyU student has an opportunity to experience the world. Service-Learning is a graduation requirement, which features a service trip often to another country. International Exchange for a semester is a very popular option among students.
