A new study published in the prestigious journal Science on 10 November 2016 reveals that global changes in climate have already impacted every aspect of life on Earth. Over 80% of ecological processes including the genetic activity of plants and areas of habitats have all been affected by climate change. It shows that climate change is not to be considered as a concern only for the future.
Special species in Hong Kong, like paradise fish, short-legged toad, and Hong Kong newt are examples of species in danger. The Hong Kong newt, which breeds only in the coolest months, would be at risk of extinction when climate becomes warmer. A local newspaper tells more about this situation and it can be read here.
