PolyU wins top prizes in 45^th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva

Under the patronage of the Swiss Federal Government, the State and the City of Geneva as well as the World Intellectual Property Organization, the 45^th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, one of the most important exhibitions of inventions in the world took place from 11 to 15 April 2017 with the participation of 40 different countries. This year, PolyU researchers garnered one Grand Award, five Special Gold Medals, three Special Merit Awards, one Gold Medal and one Silver Medal at the world-renowned event.

Awards received which are related to environmentally friendly technologies are listed below:

• Graphene/CNT-embedded Nanofibers for Clean Energy and Environment
  (能夠創造潔淨能源和環境的石墨烯/碳納米管納米纖維)
  Award: Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury
  Inventor: Prof. Wallace LEUNG, Department of Mechanical Engineering
• Upcycling Wood Waste into Particleboard by CO2 Curing and Adding Low-carbon Cement
  (透過二氧化碳養護法將廢棄木材製成低碳水泥刨花板)
  Award: Gold Medal
  Inventor: Dr Daniel C.W. TSANG
  Team Members: Mr Lei WANG, Prof. Chi-sun POON
  Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
• New Functional Textiles from Bio-based and Degradable Fibres
  (新型生物可降解功能紡織品)
  Award: Gold Medal with Congratulations of Jury & Special Merit Award from Scientific Community of Romania
  Inventor: Prof. Xiaoming TAO, Institute of Textiles and Clothing
