The Campus Sustainability Office (CSO) set up several points on campus to collect surplus edible food items and red packets after the Chinese Lunar New Year to encourage the re-use of red packets and promote the concept of sharing with the University community. In two weeks’ time, we recovered around 13kg food and over 10,000 red packets. All the food items were sent to FOOD-CO for distribution to the needy. The campaign shed lights on our impulsive buying behavior that might result in over-consumption, wastage of resources and the undesirable obsession with new things for festivals.
