Government mulls levy, rebates for plastics bottles

The Government is looking at ways to cut down on single-use plastic bottles and boost recycling. It is said to be considering a ‘producer pays’ scheme and a levy that may transfer the recycling costs to the manufacturers. At the same time, rebates will be offered for people who recycle their bottles. The Government is looking to introducing more reverse vending machines so people have a convenient and attractive way to getting their money back after dropping their empty plastic bottles.
