Twenty sets of fashionable outfits designed by aged or disable designers, in pairing up with about 100 PolyU students, were showcased in the catwalk of the ‘Youreable’ Fashion Design 2018 Award Presentation Ceremony on 6 April 2018.
Organized by the Troels H. Povlsen Care Apparel Centre under PolyU's Institute of Textiles and Clothing, the event received 352 entries submitted from 52 non-government organizations. 20 shortlisted participants joined workshops, and worked closely with PolyU students in fabric selection, fitting and garment making to turn their creative ideas into reality.
The event this year added a new Care & Chic Fashion Design Competition for secondary and post-secondary students to create apparels with functional adaptive design for the disabled and, at the same time, attractive and chic for abled persons. This was an excellent opportunity to exemplify the spirit of social integration.
