SHTMAA Annual General Meeting 2018
The Annual General Meeting for year 2018 of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management Alumni Association was held at the School on 17 January 2019. Members attended the AGM to discuss alumni affairs and preview the business plan for the coming year.
SHTMAA was delighted to introduce new members of our Executive Committee, Adriane Li, Calvin Yuen, Molly Chik and Celia Wong. The SHTMAA will continue creating an effective network to assist the personal and career development of its members, while promoting the SHTM and PolyU in Hong Kong and abroad.

 

SHTMAA Annual Dinner 2019
SHTMAA Annual Dinner 2019 was successfully held at The Helena May on 23 March 2019. This year is the 25th anniversary of SHTMAA with a theme of "Masquerade" and there were more than 100 members from SHTMAA joining us. A special gift of reusable cultery set printed with guest's name was given to support the sustainable development.
As with dinners in previous years, every participant received a fabulous prize from our grand lucky draw. Thanks to the generous help from the crew of The Helena May and the passion of the participants, it was definitely a memorable and joyful night to remember.

The SHTMAA Scholarship 2018-19
This year, applicants were asked to prepare a proposal to foster "Alumni Connection". 3 candidates were shortlisted for interview and Mr. Scorpio Feng Zibing, a Year 2 Bachelor of Science of Hotel Management was selected as the winner. He was awarded a scholarship of HK$8,000 as the recognition for his creativity and active involvement. The announcement and certificate presentation were held during the SHTMAA Annual Dinner on 23 March 2019.

 

TDC Crossover Event - International Jewellery Show
This year, we have also collaborated with the Hong Kong Trade Development (HKTDC) to provide free access and VIP arrangement for our alumni / companies / teachers and students to visit 3 international fairs.
On 2 March, we visited the International Jewellery Show. Highlighted pavilions and featured design booths were visited and more about the jewellery industry could be explored including the technology and equipment. Besides, some alumni were interested to source different kinds of jewellery and bought jewellery at very good prices!

 

Coffee Workshop
The coffee workshop was held on 1 Jun 2019 at COBO House. Coffee master, Ms Celia Wong was invited to be the instructor and led alumni members to appreciate coffee by tasting more than 20 kinds of foods.
There were totally 20 participants joined the workshop and enjoyed a cosy afternoon with such valuable workshop!

 

 

Sherry Workshop
The Sherry workshop was held on 13 July 2019 at J’s Bar Bistro, The Royal Garden Hotel. It was a fun afternoon. In a stylish and comfortable ambience, our alumni Mr Charles Chu shared his expertise in Sherry and guided the attendees through nosing and tasting steps, as well as providing a flight of sherry and snacks to make the whole thing more exciting.

Food Expo, Tea Fair, Beauty & Wellness Expo and Home Delights Expo (17 August)
Wine & Spirits Fair (9 November)

Both of the fairs are excellent for gourmets to look for new flavours and explore lifestyle products. There will be a high variety of delicacies coming across the globe. This is an event that you would not want to miss in town.
