Larry’s sharing for Coffee Workshop on 1st June
It was one fine Saturday afternoon when we had the coffee appreciation workshop hosted at the artistic venue of the Cobo House. For many of us, seldom do we explore the knowledge behind our cups of coffee. In the workshop, we went through a sensational sensory tour for our sight, olfactory and palate, facilitated by our expert Celia. We had our mind opened with the wide spectrum of smells and tastes of coffee. The workshop was interestingly led under a convivial atmosphere with lots of interactions. We had fun and learnt a great deal about Coffee. To me, a cup of coffee is never the same after attending this workshop. I do look forward to the other workshop on Sherry in July.

Betty’s sharing for Sherry Workshop on 13th July
Alumnus Charles Chu, certified sherry educator, conducted a workshop for 20 members and their guests at the J's Bar of the Royal Garden Hotel on 13 July 2019.

Charles shared indepth knowledge on the making, fortification and aging of the wine. A total of 9 sherry were tasted, including some VORS, very old and rare sherry, that are 30 years old. The wines were also paired with some interesting food. We found that the dry sherry paired well with grilled meat while the very sweet ones were excellent when eaten with ice cream.

The workshop ended with an assessment for a certificate by Consejo Regulador de Jerez-Xérès-Sherry. With Charles' excellent teaching, all participants will surely pass with flying colours.
