Summary

In this seminar, Prof Han Huang will briefly introduce his research activities at The University of Queensland on nanomechanics, nanolubrication and advanced manufacturing. His talk will then focus on their recent developments in selective laser sintering and melting of ceramics, specifically aiming for biomedical applications such as engineered ceramic scaffolds. He would also address their understanding of the interaction between laser sintering and melting, resultant mechanical properties of AMed materials and surface integrity of fabricated components. In particular, Prof Huang will discuss the material-process-microstructure-property relationships being involved in laser processing, based on both experimental and numerical analyses.

Keynote Speaker

Prof. Han Huang

Professor of Manufacturing, School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, The University of Queensland

Dr Han Huang is the Professor of Manufacturing at the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering, The University of Queensland (UQ). He leads a group of researchers working on mechanical characterization of nanostructures and development of advanced manufacturing technologies. Prof Huang obtained his Bachelor and Master’s Degrees at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) and his PhD at The University of Western Australia. He has published over 200 refereed SCI journal papers, which attracts over 5,000 citations, leading to an h-index of 38. He received a number of research accolades, including Australia Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow, Australia Research Fellow, Fellow of International Society of Nanomanufacturing and Queensland International Fellow, and won the prestigious Singapore National Technology Award. He has editorial roles in several international journals including Int. J Machine Tool & Manufacture and is a steering member of a number of nanotechnology conferences.
