Summary
Given the growing social consciousness of the public, business companies nowadays are integrating various sustainable practices into their operations. The development of organic products in the food industry, the use of environmentally friendly materials in the fashion industry, for example, are two of those most popular practices introduced into the manufacturing and product development process. The sustainable efforts, however, have been facing the challenges associated with information transparency and traceability. This research is therefore developed to explore the applications of traceability technologies in sustainable supply chains. This research will address the question of “Does the traceability technologies really help the management of sustainable supply chains?”. The findings will advance our knowledge on sustainable supply chains as well as the applications of traceability technologies. Those novel findings can serve as important references for practices and future research, and the policymakers to design appropriate policies for sustainable supply chains.
