The Department Virtual Assistant is an AI Chatbot designed to address general inquiries from staff and students based on the published information on the department’s website, leveraging the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) application. We are pleased to introduce two new features to the Department Virtual Assistant to enhance the use experience for both staff and students.
Auto update of data content in Department Virtual Assistant
When department web content publishers released new content to the department website on the Enterprise-Wide Content Management (EWCMS) platform, the automation process behind will extract updates from the HTML pages and embed them into the department’s dedicated vector database for use by the Department Virtual Assistant. To address general inquiries from staff and students, the Virtual Assistant will reference the top few matched pieces of department web content, including the latest updates, as part of the input prompt, along with the staff or student inquiries, before passing this information to the Gen AI tools to draft the response.
AI reporter
The AI Reporter tool provides a web interface that enables department web content administrators to use natural language to request real-time reports based on the most recent chat history of the Department Virtual Assistant. With this feature, departments can gain insights into the volume and nature of inquiries put forth by staff and students, as well as the quality and accuracy of the AI chatbot’s responses. This allows the department to enrich the Virtual Assistant's knowledge base and improve the accuracy of future responses.
Department web content administrators can specify the time period of the chat history to be covered, the topic of the chat conversation, as well as any inquiries that the Virtual Assistant could not provide information.
These new features are part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the user experience of the Department Virtual Assistant for staff, students and visitors.
