Pick up office number or department hotline while working from home

To receive incoming calls to your office phone number / department contact number while working from home, you can choose either one of the following ways:

  1. Use PolyU softphone mobile app to login the office number or department contact number and pick up calls from your smartphone
  2. Enable the call forward function at office IP phone set to your designated fixed line phone number at home

 

Using PolyU softphone to pick up office calls

Please follow the page 37 to 45 of the User Guide to set up softphone.

A ring group can also be set up to support department’s hotline operation. All staff support department hotline from home whose softphones will ring simultaneously when they log in the same hotline extension number at the same time.

Call forward function

a) Setup call forward at office IP phone set before leaving office

For Cisco phone

  1. Press “Forward All” button below the screen.
  2. Press ‘Target Extension’ then enter your target extension or external fixed line phone number (remember to add “9” as prefix for external phone number)
  3. To cancel the call forwarding, press “Forward All” button again below the screen.

For Snom Phone

  1. Click ‘Settings’ button on the phone
  2. Select ‘Call Features’
  3. Select ‘Call Forwarding’
  4. Select ‘Forward All’
  5. Select ‘Activate’ or ‘Enable Forwarding’
  6. Press ‘Target Extension’ then enter your target extension or external fixed line phone number (remember to add “9” as prefix for external phone number)


b) Setup call forward from home via IP Phone Client Portal page
1. Login to https://polyuipt.polyu.edu.hk
User ID: Input your office number extension you plan to enable call forward
Password: Input assigned password by the system
(*not the password of your NetID unless you change system assigned one)
If you forget the system assigned password, click ‘Reset Password’, and input your extension number as ‘User ID’ and your PolyU email address. You will then receive an email at your Outlook inbox with link to Deltapath webpage showing a new password being reset for you to login the portal.

2. Click the ‘Deltapath’ icon on top left-hand corner and click ‘Number Call Forward’. Please refer to the label (1) and (2) on the screen capture below.

3. Click ‘Add Number Call Forward’. Please refer to the label (3) on screen capture below.  
4. Select your own extension in the ‘Number’ field and enter your target extension or phone number in the ‘Forward to’ field (remember to add ‘9’ as prefix for non-PolyU phone number)
5. To cancel call forwarding, click ‘Disable Selected Number Call Forward’
