Software license compliance is an on-going and continuous process of Software Asset Management (SAM). Staff members are responsible for the software installed and used on their office desktop / laptop computers. Staff can review the latest list of installed software via PolyU Desktop management System (PUDMS). Please visit https://sam.polyu.edu.hk/DesktopManagement to access PUDMS. General user guide for PUDMS can be referred to here.
After successful login, the main screen will be displayed as below:
You may click on an IT Number in the list to display machine details including hardware and software information.
The information collected by PUDMS per office domain joined machine are classified into campus licensed, freeware, shareware, patch and drivers, and personal licensed software for users’ easy reference.
Staff members are recommended to review their classified software profile, hardware configuration, and machine configuration in the PUDMS regularly and take appropriate actions to manage software classified as personal licensed software. PUDMS also provides an overview to departmental administrators and Heads of Departments/Offices of end user software licenses used in the department. Specific roles and responsibilities can be found at PUDMS website in details.
