Microsoft has announced that the permanent retirement of Stream (Classic) for O365 will be 15 August 2023. Microsoft O365 Stream (on SharePoint) will replace Stream (Classic) to save, share, and manage video content. Effective from 15 February 2024 onwards, all users will not be able to download video content from O365 Stream (Classic).
With Stream (on SharePoint), users can:
- Upload video or audio files to SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive.
- Track and locate recent video content shared with you from the Stream start page in Office 365.
- Generate an audio transcript for video files saved in SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive.
- Add sections to video files and allow viewers to have direct jump to the relevant sections of the audio/ video files they want.
- Collaborate with comments generated from other SharePoint folders or MS Teams members after viewing video content.
- Add custom thumbnails, titles, and descriptions.
- Share videos with others, including external partners or guests, just like you share any other files.
- Feature videos in pages, sites, portals, and Microsoft Teams.
- Get analytics to know how your viewers are watching.
