Since January, two self-registration kiosks have been provisioned at the on-campus Optometry Clinic. Visitors can check in for their prior online appointment bookings and make payments without the need to queue up at the registration desk.
Patients can leverage QR codes sent to their smartphones in the form of clinic appointment confirmation SMS messages for clinic check-in. Visitors to the clinic simply present the QR code to the kiosk reader, confirm their personal registration information, prepay the standard service charge, and collect the payment receipt in one go. Visitors can then sit back and wait for their turn for service.
This self-service registration process seamlessly integrates with the Optometry Clinic Management System (OCMS). The kiosk is equipped with a QR code scanner, an HKID card OCR reader, a POS terminal for credit card transactions, and a receipt printer, all designed to provide a comprehensive and efficient visitor experience.
Over 1,700 Optometry clinic patrons have already taken advantage of the convenience offered by these kiosks for both registration and payment purposes. This implementation has markedly enhanced the clinic's operational efficiency, enabling it to effectively manage the growing volume of patrons.
We are currently exploring the integration of additional electronic payment methods such as Alipay and WeChat. With the favorable feedback, the Optometry Clinic plans to add additional self-registration kiosks to further streamline service to clinic patrons.
