Loom Loop aims to develop a new modern fashion collection by applying Canton silk, the otherwise lost heritage fabric.
The gambiered Canton silk is one of the famous traditional fabrics in Guangzhou, China, with nearly 400 years of history. Manufactured by dip-dyeing in dye yam solution, and insulated under the burning sun, the production process is clean, reproducible and environmentally friendly. Canton silk was a major commodity in the 1930s, yet was abandoned during the Cultural Revolution owing to anti-tradition movements. Loom Loop would like to reinstate this beautiful fabric and bring it back to the contemporary fashion industry and our daily lives.
