Goodtakes Limited
In Hong Kong, over 3,600 tonnes of food is thrown away every day and one-third of them are from the industrial and commercial sectors. There is a huge gap between the food surplus and accessibility. GOODTAKES’s mission is to empower everyone to become a food warrior to co-create a more sustainable city together. GOODTAKES enables the mass market to access and purchase “surprise baskets” from eateries at a discounted price. These “surprise baskets” are filled with delicious unsold food from eateries. The “Surprise Basket” concept brings excitement and fun to users while addressing the unpredictable nature of food waste, allowing eateries the flexibility to save food that would otherwise go to waste. For users, they can order unsold food of the day with up to 50% off from the app, pay and pick up the order at the store at the pre-set time. This will save their cost on food alongside reducing food waste and CO2 emissions. For eateries, this will help to recover their sunk cost and attract new customers. It is a win-win-win sustainable solution for consumers, eateries and the environment.
