Watts Optical Instruments Limited

Watts Optical Instruments Ltd. is a Hong Kong Startup Company to promote the commercialization of light field technology for the AOI industry. Its specialty is the Plenoptic 3D measurement. We have developed a unique 3D measurement technique using the light field technology. It only needs to take a top view of the object to be measured by a single camera. The depth data of all points of the object to be measured within the field of view can be determined. Unlike the other systems in the market, they used multiple cameras to expose various viewing angles of the object. Our system design can do auto-focusing and analyze the depth without taken the object out from the carrier. This gives our system the advantage of compactness in size and faster processing time. This allows the possibility to integrate our 3D measurement and the existing production processes and makes online 3D inspection more efficient at a much lower cost.

Our target initially is focused on the depth measurement of semi conductor devices such as plastic ICs, metal can, BGA, leadframe etc. We will extend the application to other areas where 3 D measurement is required.
