A Virtual InnoCarnival was held from 23 to 31 December 2020 by the Innovation and Technology Commission. On exhibit were some projects related to the theme of smart mobility, a distinctive feature of Hong Kong due to its efficient transport infrastructure.
Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics (LSGI) is one of the departments be invited to showcase our research output in smart mobility, These included (i) a smart city platform created by Prof. John Shi of LSGI for seamless data fusion, AI-based urban object cognition, visualisation and analysis of massive 3D urban models, and spatial big data analytics, (ii) a multi-modal public transport route search platform known as HKeTransport created by Dr Lilian Pun-Cheng of LSGI, (iii) intelligent transportation systems for drivers that were created by Prof. William Lam of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), and (iv) a seamless urban navigation system that was led by Prof. Wu Chen of LSGI.
