In recent years, Hong Kong has seen a rise in the number of internet scams and telephone deception cases. Common examples are telephone deception, online romance scams or investment fraud. It is crucial that you stay vigilant at all times and NEVER give out your personal information or transfer money to anyone suspicious.

Please be reminded that completion of the online anti-scam course is a mandatory requirement before you can collect your student ID card.

If you are unsure about a possible fraud, contact the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force at (852) 18222 for assistance.

Preventing Sexual Harassment on Campus

PolyU is committed to ensuring a pleasant environment for students by eliminating any form of discrimination, including sexual harassment.

To equip you with adequate knowledge on what a sexual harassment is about, you are required to complete the “Online Training Module on Preventing Sexual Harassment on Campus” according to following steps at least one day before collecting your student ID card:

Step 1: Click “University Login (via HKAF)” via this link and choose “The Hong Kong Polytechnic University”

Step 2: Log in with your student ID (Please make sure that you have already activated your PolyU Network Identity (NetID))

Step 3: Create a HKMOOC account and complete the module

Or, you may seek advice and support from the approved list of advisers/ conciliators of the University for resolving the allegation through informal resolution.

Student-led Activities/Groups & Communities

We understand that you are eager to make the most out of your first few months of settling into University Life by joining different types of orientation camps/activities run by our student organisations. Please note that only activities approved by the PolyU Hosting Units of affiliated student organisations are covered by the University’s group personal accident insurance. In addition, new students who are being approached for taking part in externally organised activities or signing up in groups or communities are strongly advised to:

perform due diligence checking on the credibility and reliability of the organisations/service providers, details of the respective group activities/programmes, as well as the corresponding terms and conditions; and
seek advice from your friends/family members/mentors/teachers before enrolment.
