Student Discipline

One of the missions of PolyU is to nurture individuals who are dedicated to their academic and personal growth. Therefore, the University adopts this Code of Conduct in order to:

(a) Ensure the presence of an ethical and reputable university community
(b) Protect members of the community and its resources from harm
(c) Provide a guide on appropriate behaviour as part of the University and the society

This Code acts in concordance with the rules, regulations and corresponding disciplinary measures as set out by the University. For more information, please refer to the Student Handbook.

Academic integrity is the commitment to and demonstration of honest and moral behaviour in academic work. Students at PolyU are expected to uphold academic integrity and do their academic work in an honest and ethical manner, following the conventions and code of practice of their chosen discipline or profession. In case of proven dishonesty, including examination misconduct and plagiarism, disciplinary actions will be imposed of students, which may include suspension of studies or even expulsion.  These actions will be recorded in the students’ official records of the University.

A special section is available on the website of Academic Registry to gather all essential information related to academic integrity, ranging from policy and procedures to support and resources (e.g. citation guides) offered by academic support units across the University.  For more information, please visit Academic Integrity.

In addition to academic integrity, the University highly values ethical integrity and honesty in all aspects of student life. It’s important to note that non-academic misconduct, such as forgery and theft, goes against these principles.

Forgery, including the forgery of medical certificates/documents for submission to the University, is considered a serious offence both within and outside the university, which may result in legal repercussions, including imprisonment. Within the university, we take instances of forgery seriously, and students found guilty of such behaviour will face disciplinary actions, which may include, but are not limited to, suspension of studies.

Navigating your academic journey with integrity and honesty is highly encouraged at PolyU. Our commitment is to support you in upholding ethical values and making choices that demonstrate integrity and honesty. Together, let’s create a positive and nurturing environment for everyone at the University.

PolyU is committed to providing a safe environment for its staff members, students, contractors as well as visitors to protect everyone’s health. We will strive to excel in maintaining our health, safety and environmental standards by adhering to our Health, Safety & Environment Policy.
