From 20 to 23 March 2024, a delegation of the PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR), led by Prof. Christopher CHAO, Vice President (Research and Innovation) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), visited Melbourne, Australia to explore potential research collaborations with local universities.
The delegation included Prof. CHEN Qingyan, Director of PAIR, Prof. John SHI, Director of the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Smart Cities Research Institute (SCRI), Prof. WANG Shengwei, Director the Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE), Prof. LI Heng, Associate Director of the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things (RIAIoT), Prof. LENG Zhen, Associate Director of the Research Centre for Resources Engineering towards Carbon Neutrality (RCRE), and others.
The group visited Monash University, The University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Technical College. During the visit, they met with members of the universities and had fruitful thematic discussions on energy, smart cities and policy, as well as advanced technologies, AI and data. They also learnt about the interdisciplinary research landscape at the universities and explored opportunities for research collaborations between these universities and PolyU.
