Biography
Mr Ben Lau is Associate Vice President (Campus Development and Facilities) and Director of Campus Development at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). In these dual capacities, he is responsible for steering and implementing PolyU’s initiatives related to campus development and enhancement, bringing new perspectives and modernisation to the University’s spaces and facilities for the greater benefit of the PolyU community.
Since 2022, as the Director of Campus Development, Mr Lau has successfully overseen several key projects, including the iconic University Main Entrance, the multi-award-winning University Library, and the serene urban oasis at the University Square. Prior to joining PolyU, Mr Lau had accumulated over 25 years of experience with leading property developers, including the New World Development, Cheung Kong Properties and Las Vegas Sands.
Mr Lau is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Building Surveyor. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting.
Mr Lau has been appointed a member of the Modular Integrated Construction Sub-committee of the Construction Innovation and Technology Fund at the Construction Industry Council since 2024.
