Executive Vice President

Professor Miranda Lou is the Executive Vice President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, overseeing institutional advancement, mainland development, alumni engagement, finance, human resources, communications and public affairs, campus development and facilities management.

Professor Lou has worked for Wharf (Holdings) Limited, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and OOCL Group.  Her last position prior to joining the University was Chief Operating Officer of OOCL Logistics, leading the strategic planning and global business development of the company.  Previously, she had served in different global and regional leadership roles within the OOCL Group, including Director of Asia-Europe Trade, Managing Director of Hong Kong and South China, and General Manager of Corporate Administration.

During Professor Lou’s tenure with the OOCL Group, she enhanced organisational capabilities with innovative practices and brought growth in scale and profitability to the business units she managed.  Professor Lou also steered the design and implementation of numerous re-engineering initiatives to strengthen the company’s competitiveness, including centralising and offshoring various support, expert and customer-interactive roles; setting up global IT development centres; and institutionalising quality management into organisational practices.  Under her leadership, the in-house designed global Human Resources Information System, an online platform for blended learning solutions, and knowledge management initiatives were launched with external awards received.

Apart from the experience in the business sector, Professor Lou had worked at the headquarters and local office of the Community Relations Department of the ICAC in formulating strategy and implementing plans and programmes to promote corruption prevention and business ethics to the community.

Professor Lou is currently the council member of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, member of Standing Commission on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service, Advisory Committee on Post-office Employment for Former Chief Executives and Politically Appointed Officials and Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation.  She also served as board director of Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre, committee member of Hong Kong Housing Authority, Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service and Insurance Appeals Tribunal.

Professor Lou received her Doctor of Business Administration degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Master of Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Master of Science in Financial Management from the University of London, and Bachelor of Arts from The University of Hong Kong.
