In the letter to the editor of SCMP, Prof. Haitian Lu and Dr Sirui Han of PReCIT of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University discussed the unintended consequences of the government’s measures for addressing the issue of affordable housing for low-income families, such as reducing incentives for members of low-income households to participate in the labour force and increasing their dependence on welfare, before the announcement of Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address tomorrow.
