Topic
2D Materials for Grand Photonic Challenges
Abstracts
Prof. Zhipei SUN will present a few demonstrations from his research group in using 2D materials to address the current grand challenges in photonics, such as high-performance lasers and quantum sources, ultrafast modulators, and miniaturized spectrometers. He will also introduce their recent results of employing hybrid structures, such as mixed-dimensional heterostructures, moiré structures, plasmonic structures, and silicon/fibre waveguides integrated structures.
Biography
Prof. Zhipei SUN’s research interests mainly include nonlinear optics, nanophotonics, and ultrafast photonics. He presently focuses on carbon nanotubes, graphene, and other 2D materials for photonics and optoelectronics.
Currently, he is actively involved with the European research council advanced grant (PI), European quantum flagship (Co-PI of S2QUIP), Academy of Finland Photonics Flagship (Aalto PI), and Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence on quantum technology (co-PI).
