“Art and Culture Series” back in May to celebrate PolyU 85th Anniversary
Art and culture enrich our lives in many ways, inspiring our creativity and nurturing our appreciation of beauty. At PolyU, art and culture have always played a crucial role in the University’s holistic education. This May, we are thrilled to announce that the Art and Culture Series is back, in celebration of PolyU’s 85th Anniversary!
Various talented artists and seasoned experts have been engaged to inspire our appreciation of a broad array of art and culture, on campus and in the community.
The first campus performance will be a concert held on 31 May (Tuesday) by the PolyU Alumni Band, featuring seasoned musicians including Eagle Chan, Stephanie Lau, Chiu Ka-yu and Danny Yau. They will put on a vibrant “lunchtime” performance at PolyU’s Logo Square from 1-2pm.

The next exciting performance, “The Power of Passion – a Concert by the PolyU Orchestra and the PolyU Choir”, will be held on 17 June (Friday). The Orchestra will perform under the batons of renowned musicians Mr Leung Kin-fung and Mr Alex Tam respectively. They will first present a repertoire of Italian opera - “La Forza del Destino” (The Force of Destiny) by Giuseppe Verdi, followed by Austrian composer Franz Schubert’s “Symphony No. 9 in C major, D944, The Great”. They will then be joined by the PolyU Choir to perform a medley arranged by Mr Ng Cheuk-yin of Cantonese popular songs of the past eight decades, as well as choral works “Dirait-On” and “The Joy of Snowflake”.
