With the launch of the recruitment of payload specialists in Hong Kong for China Manned Space Programme, PolyU recently conducted a seminar to discuss the development of aerospace and aviation technologies and help the audience understand more about the Nation’s space missions.

Speakers at the seminar included aerospace experts Prof. Yung Kai-leung, Sir Sze-yuen Chung Professor in Precision Engineering, Chair Professor of Precision Engineering, Director of the Research Centre for Deep Space Explorations (RCDSE), and Associate Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering; together with Prof. Wu Bo, Associate Director of RCDSE and Associate Head (Research) of the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics.

Prof. Yung said the recruitment exercise demonstrates the Nation’s confidence in Hong Kong’s level of scientific research and development as well as its care for the development of Hong Kong’s young people. Prof. Wu commented that it would be a great encouragement for Hong Kong if a local expert is recruited, thus facilitating Hong Kong scientists to further participate in national space missions.

The University will render its full assistance and cooperation to the Nation’s selection exercise and continue to enhance its scientific research in different areas and proactively participate in the Nation’s space missions.
