Over 170 students and staff participate in University Blood Donation Marathon @PolyU
In collaboration with the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, the Student Affairs Office of PolyU organised the University Blood Donation Marathon @PolyU during 20-22 March. Over 170 students and staff participated and 142 units of blood were collected. Among those who successfully gave blood, 53 of them were first-time donors.
At the campaign, 30 students were presented the Young Donor Medal by Dr Jennifer Leung, Head of Blood Collection and Donor Recruitment at the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, and Ir Prof. Albert P.C. Chan, Dean of Students of PolyU. A total of 54 students received the award in the 2022/23 academic year. The award serves to recognise youngsters who have donated blood three times before their 26th birthday.
The Student Affairs Office and the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service have been joining hands to promote the importance of blood donation and the awareness of the need for more blood donors since 2018.
