About the Workshop

This workshop aims to provide a professional programme for PolyU students, staff and the participants taking part in “The AI-Powered Legacy - 48 Hours AI Filmmaking Competition”, with on-site teaching and guidance led by Creative Director Nicolas Lesaffre from animation studio Nikopicto. The goal is to help participants fully understand the application of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) in film and animation creation.

The workshop will help you to:

  • Master the art of storytelling and discover why a compelling script is crucial, even for short films.
  • Harness the power of AICG and learn how to creatively integrate AI-generated content across different media.
  • Stay in control and equip yourself with the knowledge to remain the creative force behind your projects, using AICG as a powerful tool in your arsenal.

Refundable Deposit:
To encourage participants to attend and provide valuable feedback for organizing future workshops, we will require a fully refundable deposit of HKD 200 upon registration. If a participant does not attend the workshop, the deposit will be forfeited and transferred to the Finance Office.

You will receive an email with instructions for arranging the deposit to V920 in order to confirm your registration.

Creative Director of Nikopicto

Nicolas Lesaffre is a French Digital artist, Animation director and IP creator. His art spans a variety of media, including digital art, animation, IP creation and installation of large-scale sculptures. Born and raised in France, Nicolas debuted his career in feature film working on the first animated film by Luc Besson, in 2004. Since then, Nicolas pursued a successful career as a commercial artist for global brands and clients and has been actively engaged to merge animation and cartoon style into the advertising market as an animation Director and Character Designer over the last 20 years in Europe, North America and Asia. Brimming with unique design and character animation, the surreal scenes he creates are saturated with eye catching elements and attention-grabbing characters that will assure you you’re seeing something new and unique. Over the years Nicolas has created a colorful palette of films, illustration, projection mapping, augmented reality, and IP creation in Paris, London, Los Angeles and for 12 years in Hong Kong under the label of his creative animation studio, Nikopicto.
