The Research Centre for Chinese Medicine Innovation (RCMI) of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) organized a Public Lecture titled “Long COVID in Canada: CANCOV, RECLAIM & Long COVID Web” on January 12, 2024. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Angela Cheung, a distinguished Professor of Medicine from the University of Toronto. The lecture seamlessly combined in-person and online participation, attracting an impressive attendance of nearly 100 individuals. Additionally, the lecture was broadcasted live on social media platforms, captivating an online audience of 12,682 viewers.
Prof. Qingyan Chen, Director of PolyU Academy for Interdisciplinary Research (PAIR), delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the global significance of Long COVID as a topic of widespread interest. Prof. Cheung provided a comprehensive presentation, covering the definition, mechanisms, prevention, and management of Long COVID, while also discussing the insights gained from the CANCOV, RECLAIM, and Long COVID web research conducted in Canada.
The Q&A session, moderated by Dr Daniel Mok, Associate Director of RCMI, fostered an engaging and productive discussion between Prof. Cheung and the audience. Participants actively posed thought-provoking questions, leading to a fruitful exchange of ideas and insights. The RCMI Public Lecture on Long COVID in Canada served as an invaluable platform for disseminating research findings and facilitating meaningful discussions among participants, thereby advancing knowledge and understanding in this critical area of study.
