In a strategic move aimed at elevating regional collaboration of TCM research, the Shanghai City Chinese Medicine Hospital (Shanghai TCM Hospital) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University are poised to establish a cutting-edge joint laboratory for TCM innovation.
The groundwork for this collaboration was laid with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 28
September 2024.
The joint laboratory will bring together brilliant minds and cutting-edge technologies from Shanghai TCM Hospital and PolyU, focusing on five key platforms:
(1) innovative and translational research in transdermal drug delivery
(2) platform for small model organism research (including fruit flies, zebrafish, and mice)
(3) TCM quality control research
(4) organoid and 3D printing technologies; and
(5) the advancement of TCM healthcare products inHong Kong and Macau.
The MoU signing ceremony signifies a substantive phase in the collaboration between the Shanghai TCM Hospital and PolyU. Through collaboration in research and translation, knowledge exchange, and talent cultivation, they aim to advance Chinese
medicine research, raise medical research standards, and reap mutual rewards.
