PolyU student shines at Maintenance and Appreciation of Historical Buildings Creativity Competition
A student from PolyU's Department of Building and Real Estate, Ada Lo Wing-yan (Year 2), has won the championship in the “Maintenance and Appreciation of Historical Buildings Creativity Competition – Tiny Model (Public Category)” organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) with her miniature model “Rejuvenation”.
“Rejuvenation” is a miniature of the Grade 1 historical building “Lui Seng Chun”. Built to a 1:200 scale, the model nicely illustrates the building’s unique architectural features as well as its internal and external structures before and after revitalisation.
Aiming to encourage the public to understand and appreciate the rich history, cultural traditions and conservation of Hong Kong historical buildings, as well as to educate the public about the importance of timely maintenance of these buildings, HKIS has been granted the Built Heritage Conservation Fund by the Development Bureau to organise the “Maintenance and Appreciation of Historical Buildings” project. Since March 2019, a series of events has been organised including the Creativity Competition.
