About RiFood
Food Safety and Technology is one of the top research foci of PolyU. In response to the pressing need of society, PolyU has established the first university-based Food Safety and Technology Research Centre (FSTRC) in August 2011. Over the years, research team of FSTRC has attained impressive technology breakthrough in various areas, receiving wide recognition at local, national and international levels. In particular, FSTRC has secured over HK$160M funding support from government and food industry of Hong Kong and Mainland China via channels like research grants, donations, contract research and consultancy. Besides, FSTRC has published over 350 top journal articles, filed 30 Chinese & US patents as well as obtained 20 national/international research awards since 2011. Based on the 10-year outstanding track record of FSTRC, PolyU has recently upgraded and established a brand new “Research Institute for Future Food” to facilitate impactful inter-disciplinary research for the benefit of Hong Kong, the nation and the world.
