Biography

Prof. Louise CUMMINGS is a Professor in the Department of English and Communication at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She obtained her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Ulster.

Prof. Cummings' research interests include linguistics, communication disorders, and public health communication. She places a particular emphasis on pragmatic disorders within populations that are currently underserved by clinical language services. Her work has been published in renowned journals such as East Asian Pragmatics and Language and Health. Prof. Cummings has also been invited to deliver keynote speeches by prestigious international organizations, including Shandong University, the European Association of Language Teachers for Healthcare, and the Queen's Nursing Institute.
